Practicality of the Impossible

Vortrag von Goran Sergej Pristaš im Rahmen der Reihe "relatifs". In 1977, while writing the score for Freeman Etudes, John Cage proposed: “We tend to think that the situation is hopeless and that it’s just impossible to do something that will make everything turn out properly (…) this music, which is almost impossible, gives an instance of the practicality of the impossible.” The question Pristaš is concerned with is what can we and our institutions learn from artistic gesture of practicing of the impossible at the time when catastrophe seems inevitable and utopia is more a matter of memory then of imagination? Goran Sergej Pristaš ist Professor für Dramaturgie an der Akademie der dramatischen Künste der Universität Zagreb. Er ist Mitgründer des Performance-Kollektivs BADco., Zagreb. Er hat die Intitiative Zagreb: Cultural Kapital of Europe 3000 mitbegründet. Mit seinen Projekten (u.a. das Magazin Frakcija) hat er an der Biennalen von Venedig 2011 und 2016, an der Documenta 12 und vielen anderen Festivals teilgenommen.
