Interface Cultures The Lovely Machine harnesses chaotic forces and uses them for locomotion. This unpredictable and fickle behavior is due to the presence of visitors, sensors, and signals sent to the motor. The Lovely Machine is eager to meet you. The unpredictable behavior of the machine is directly related to the random procurement of materials used in its construction. Over the course of one day, a washing drum and motor were collected, resulting in the emergent design of a walking machine. The unintentional movement of the washing machine in the laundry room is transformed into a locomotive motor, following a transformative practice of the adaptation and modification of artifacts using found objects and functions. IC at ars electronica 2010, 2nd to 11th September 2010, Linz, Austria. Die Lovely Machine bändigt chaotische Kräfte und nutzt sie zur Fortbewegung. Das unvorhersehbare, wankelmütige Verhalten der Maschine resultiert aus der Präsenz der Besucher, Sensoren senden Impulse an den Motor. Die Lovely Machine ist darauf versessen, Sie kennen zu lernen. Eine Maschine zu entwerfen, die ein unvorhersehbares Verhalten aufweisen sollte, begann mit der Materialbeschaffung, die ebenso unvorhersehbar war. Mit dem Resultat gefundener Objekte eines Tages entstand aus einer Waschmaschinentrommel und Waschmaschinenmotor eine laufende Maschine. Die ungewollte Bewegung der Waschmaschine aus der Waschküche wird zum Antriebsmotor umgeformt und folgt damit einer transformativen Praxis von Adaption und Modifikation von Artefakten, der gefundenen Objekten und Funktionen.
