Augmentation Aesthetics and Bio-Digital Identity in Art

Interface Cultures lädt zum Gastvortrag von Julian Stadon This lecture explores how art can culturally reconfigure our understandings of post-biological identity, through augmentation aesthetics and how can a speculative, transdisciplinary research methodology best facilitate this. Spanning over a decade of research on this topic, both as an artist/researcher and as director of marart.org, this presentation will:- Define augmentation aesthetics as a field within contemporary arts and humanities and the history of representation, including issues relating to this and current gaps in knowledge.
- Define post-biological identity, through the concept of the Data Body, in relation to augmentation aesthetics and embodiment.
- Explain the need for a new speculative research framework for this discourse, that departs away from hierarchal/linear scientific models, towards one that is more suitable for the arts and humanities, through innovative artistic practice.
- Present through practice, how this can be implemented using art-based research outcomes to demonstrate this.
- Demonstrate how a specific organisation dedicated to the field can better expand and address issues specific to this path of discourse, using The Mixed and Augmented Reality Art Organisation as a case study.
