Malerei & Grafik und Bildhauerei-transmedialer Raum Ausstellungsprojekt im Rahmen der Ausstellung "Mir - das Dorf und die Welt – eine künstlerische Entdeckung des russischen Dorfes im Gedenkjahr 1917 - 2017"
5. Oktober 2017 bis 28. Februar 2018, Museumszentrum Krasnoyarsk, MiR Platz Nr. 1 In April 2016, a group of students of Painting & Graphic Art and Sculpture-Transmedial Space from the University of Art and Design Linz, went together with Rainer Tsweckbau to Belarus for about a week. Their object of research there was the Belarusian kolkhoz -the so-called collective farm, a relict from Soviet Union times, which has survived there until today. The art works which were developed on the basis of this research process are quite diverse, both thematically and formally. In terms of media they range from painting and graphic to sculpture and installations combined with video. Regarding the artistic approach some pieces are analytical, others are intuitive. In her series of paintings “Heroine of Work” Sylvia Berndorfer features kolkhoznitsas, the so-called heroine of work, month of May and month of June. The colors of the paintings refer to colors of rural houses, the motives share a feeling of melancholia. Inspired by the modular fences, that can be found all over rural Belarus, Stefan Brandmayer’s installation deals with the act of claiming space and its resources. Georg Holzmann, Alexandra Kahl and Mariya Zhariy are going to build the installation "There is no need to be delighted”, based on the non-existent memory of an imaginary village. They will be strolling through the streets of Krasnoyarsk, searching for materials, to manifest this vague idea. Their main focus will stay with the theme kolkhoz, but not so much on what they found out about it, rather than what their vision about it was in the first place. Katharina Kaff presents eleven small paintings, all of which are revolving around the kolkhozes and their female workers, the kolkhosnitsa. Kaff´s paintings are based on photos she found during the journey, or were taken by the artist herself. Melanie Ludwig is producing the animation movie „Go I Know Not Whither and Fetch I Know Not What “. While the body is carried from one place to another, the mind moves as well towards the final goal: a village somewhere in Siberia. Her drawings talk about expectations mixed up withimaginations of this unknown place: a donkey pulling a car, a Lenin statue floating on a rubber boatand Baba Yaga selling handmade socks at the roadside.During his research for the project Leo Lunger became int During his research for the project Leo Lunger became interested in the similarities of western media and symbols of the Soviet Union. They represent completely different matters, but yet have some common imagery. He used parts of both to create a blurry and new message. Veronika Sengstbratl is interested in long and flat cuboids, big and round buildings, endless fields, brown soil and colorful fences. She was especially impressed by the kolkhozes´ architecture and wideness. Julia Zöhrers intuitive drawings “On the Line” are based on the memories of her first travel to Belarus. The unobtrusive textiles are presented on everyday objects and refer to the common placement of textiles. Betreuende Lehrende:
