Transparent Sculpture: Passages

Interface Cultures "Transparent Sculpture: Passages" is a sound installation that includes sweet spots from the focal points between multiple directional speakers. These can send sound to the limited listening area. These sweet spots, which are deployed in the installation, imply the existence of sonic structures: a transparent sculpture.
Compositions from field recordings of passages in different areas are used as a motif for the sculpture. They include the ambience of languages, songs, weather conditions and people. The different areas correspond to the Western and the Eastern part of the world. The ambience is a cultural and musical product that represents the aesthetics of a certain area.
By walking through and searching for the sculpture, the visitor experiences the "Transparent Sculpture: Passages". Exhibition at: IC at ars electronica 2012, Linz, Austria "Transparent Sculpture: Passages" ist eine Klanginstallation mit Sweet-Spots, die Orientierung durch Multi-Lautsprechern geben. Diese können einen Ton auf einen begrenzten und fernen Hörbereich senden. Die Sweet-Spots implizieren die Existenz einer akustischen Struktur: einer transparenten Plastik.
Kompositionen von Audioaufnahmen von PassantInnen aus verschiedenen Regionen werden als Motiv für die Skulptur verwendet. Dazu gehören die Umgebung der Sprachen, Lieder, das Wetter und die Menschen selbst. Die verschiedenen Regionen entsprechen dem westlichen und den östlichen Teil der Welt. Die Umgebung ist ein kulturelles und musikalisches Produkt, das die Ästhetik eines bestimmten Gebietes darstellt.
Die BesucherInnen erfahren "Transparent Sculpture: Passages" durch das Durchwandern und Suchen der Skulptur.
