The graduates of the Master Programme Industrial Design have learned to use the competencies acquired both to resolve professional tasks and in a research context. In addition to the basic ability to deal with design tasks, graduates can contribute to process improvement in the following areas:

• definition of organisational structures
• adaptation of process structures in design/change management
• definition of infrastructure measures, investment planning
• harmonisation of process flows and data structures
• modification/redefinition of job descriptions and task breakdowns
• development of staff training concepts

The knowledge acquired during the Master Programme Industrial Design can moreover be used in new, atypical areas of work within wider or multidisciplinary contexts. Graduates learn to integrate new knowledge, deal with complex requirements and develop an understanding even of those situations when not all pertinent information is yet available.
They are able to communicate, explain and argue the (novel) solutions developed by them, both vis-à-vis an audience composed of experts and an interested public at large. In addition, graduates are in a position to put their know-how to good use in sectors with close links to the field of design, such as architecture or advertising; as a result, career options in the following sectors are likewise conceivable:

• automotive industry and automotive industry suppliers
• consumer goods and investment goods industries
• aviation and aerospace industries
• PR and event management agencies
• architectural studios and property development companies
• media, film and television

Graduates of the Master Programme Industrial Design also acquire the ability to autonomously continue their educational career, specifically in the context of a Postgraduate Doctoral Programme.
