Professur für Kunstgeschichte (gem. § 98)

For english version, please see below Kunstuniversität Linz – Institut für Bildende Kunst und Kulturwissen-schaften – Ausschreibung einer Professur für Kunstgeschichte (gem. § 98) An der Kunstuniversität Linz ist am Institut für Bildende Kunst und Kulturwissenschaften, Abteilung Kunstgeschichte und Kunsttheorie die Stelle einer*eines Universitätsprofessor*in für Kunstgeschichte gem. § 98 (1) UG 2002 in vollem Beschäftigungsausmaß mit Beginn Oktober 2024 zu besetzen. Die Bezahlung erfolgt nach § 49 (1) KV und beträgt Euro 5.826,50 brutto pro Monat, wobei eine eventuelle Überzahlung Gegenstand der Berufungs-verhandlungen sein kann. Die Vertragsdauer beträgt vorerst fünf Jahre. Eine Entfristung ist möglich. Die Erforschung und Vermittlung von Kunstgeschichte in seiner fachlichen Breite und gegenwärtigen Aktualität sind das zentrale Aufgabenfeld der Professur. Gesucht wird eine Person mit hervorragender wissenschaftlicher und didaktischer Qualifikation, die das Fach Kunstgeschichte in seiner historischen Tiefe und methodischen Vielfalt vertritt und mit aktuellen Entwicklungen im internationalen Kunstbetrieb vertraut ist. Sie soll insbesondere in der Lage sein, Studierenden der verschiedenen Studiengänge (künstlerische und gestalterische Fächer, Lehramt, BA Kulturwissenschaften, MA Medienkultur- und Kunsttheorien und PhD) kunsthistorische Zusammenhänge sowohl in einführenden Vorlesungen als auch in vertiefenden Seminaren in ihrer Relevanz für aktuelle Diskurse und Praktiken zu vermitteln. Darüber hinaus soll ihre Forschungstätigkeit an der Kunstuniversität Linz in internationalen Tagungen, Publikationen und drittmittelfinanzierten Forschungsprojekten (unter Einbindung lokaler Institutionen und Kooperationspartner*innen) ihren Niederschlag finden. Voraussetzungen
  • Doktorat bzw. PhD im Bereich Kunstgeschichte;
  • Habilitation oder gleichwertige wissenschaftliche Qualifikation;
  • Arbeitsschwerpunkte in der Kunst der Moderne bzw. Gegenwart verbunden mit umfangreicher historischer Expertise;
  • fachspezifische Monografien und Publikationen in international anerkannten Publikationsorganen und Fachzeitschriften;
  • internationale Forschungstätigkeit und Vernetzung;
  • universitäre Lehrerfahrung und hervorragende didaktische Fähigkeiten;
  • Gender- und Diversitätskompetenz.

Erwartet wird
  • ausgeprägtes Interesse an gegenwärtigen künstlerischen Arbeitsprozessen;
  • Bereitschaft, wissenschaftliche und künstlerische Projekte im grundständigen Studium und im PhD-Programm der Kunstuniversität zu begleiten;
  • Teamfähigkeit und Bereitschaft zur Kooperation mit regionalen Museen, Sammlungen, Kunsträumen und wissenschaftlichen Einrichtungen;
  • Interesse an kulturwissenschaftlicher und transdisziplinärer Forschung;
  • Bereitschaft zur Einwerbung von Forschungsgeldern bzw. Drittmitteln;
  • die Bereitschaft, durch Lehre, Forschung und Gremienarbeit Teilhabe und Vielheit zu fördern;
  • Bereitschaft zur Übernahme von Aufgaben im Bereich der universitären Selbstverwaltung;
  • Teamfähigkeit und soziale Kompetenz;
  • die Fähigkeit zur Abhaltung von Lehrveranstaltungen in deutscher und englischer Sprache.

Professor of Art History (according to Section 98)

University of Arts Linz – Institute of Fine Arts and Cultural Studies – Vacancy for a Professor of Art History (according to Section 98) University of Arts Linz invites applications for a full-time position as University Professor of Art History at the Institute of Fine Arts and Cultural Studies in the Department of Art History and Art Theory starting in October 2024 according to Section 98 (1) of the Austrian Universities Act (UG 2002). The monthly salary of €5,826.50 (before tax and deductions) is based on Section 49 (1) of the collective bargaining agreement. The possibility of a higher salary can be part of the appointment negotiations. The contract term is initially limited to five years. Permanent employment is possible. The research and teaching of art history in the breadth and contemporary relevance of the subject are the key responsibilities of the professorship. We are looking for someone with outstanding research and teaching qualifications who can represent the subject of art history in its historical depth and methodological diversity and is familiar with current developments in the international art world. In particular, the professor must be able to provide students of the various programmes (art and design subjects, teacher training, Cultural Studies BA, Media Culture and Art Theories MA, and PhD) with an understanding of art history in its relevance for current discussions and practices in both introductory lectures as well as more in-depth seminars. In addition, the professor’s research activity at University of Arts Linz should be reflected at international conferences and in publications, and third-party funded research projects (involving local institutions and cooperation partners). Essential Qualifications
  • Doctorate or PhD in art history;
  • Habilitation or an equivalent academic qualification;
  • Research focuses in modern or contemporary art coupled with extensive historical expertise;
  • Subject-specific monographs and publications in internationally recognised publications and specialist journals;
  • International research activity and connections;
  • University teaching experience and excellent teaching skills;
  • Gender and diversity competence.

Desired Qualifications
  • Strong interest in contemporary artistic work processes;
  • Willingness to supervise research and artistic projects in the undergraduate and PhD programmes of the University of Arts Linz
  • Ability to work in a team and willingness to cooperate with regional museums, collections, art spaces, and research institutions;
  • Interest in cultural studies and transdisciplinary research;
  • Willingness to acquire research grants or third-party funding;
  • Willingness to promote participation and diversity through teaching, research, and work on committees;
  • Willingness to take on tasks in connection with the university’s self-administration;
  • Ability to work in a team and good social skills;
  • Ability to teach courses in both German and English.
