Aluminiumrohre, recyceltes Holz, Stoffe, LKW Planen
4×5m je Installation „Wenn wir uns vorstellen, fremde Leute würden plötzlich ohne unsere Einladung jeden Tag von Montag bis Freitag in unserem Wohnzimmer auftauchen, für zwei bis drei Stunden bleiben und dann wieder gehen, hört es sich ziemlich absurd an. Für viele wurde dies in der Corona Krise jedoch zum Alltag. Räume, die vorher zum Rückzug ins Private dienten, wurden plötzlich zu Arbeitsplätzen umfunktioniert und Wohnungen zu digitalen Großraumbüros.“ War das Wohnzimmer vor Corona noch ein abendlicher Treffpunkt nach der Arbeit oder der Schule, so war man während des Lockdowns froh, wenn man diesen vier Wänden endlich entfliehen konnte. Die Öffentlichkeit breitete sich im privaten Raum aus wie das Virus auf der ganzen Welt. Was jedoch, wenn wir diese Raumsituation umkehren? Wenn wir die Geschütztheit der eigenen vier Wände nach außen stülpen und die Wohnzimmercouch plötzlich mitten in der Stadt aufbauen? Aus dieser Idee heraus entstanden vier Rauminstallationen, deren Begrenzungen Intimität im öffentlichen Raum schaffen.

4×5m per installation “If we imagine strange people suddenly appearing in our living room, uninvited, every day from Monday to Friday, remaining for two or three hours, and then leaving again, it sounds rather absurd. For many, however, that has become reality during the coronavirus crisis. Rooms that once served as retreats into the private were suddenly turned into workplaces and apartments became digital open-plan offices.” Whereas before the coronavirus the living room was a place to meet in the evening after work or school, during lockdown one was happy if one could finally escape these four walls. The public sphere spread in private space like the virus across the whole world. But what if we reverse this spatial situation? If we turn the protected space of our own home inside out and suddenly set up the living-room couch in the middle of the city? This idea resulted in four spatial installations whose demarcations create intimacy in public space.
