Fluent Interfacing for Robotics within Architecture

Beginn des PhD-Programms / Start of the PhD-Program: WS 2020 Betreuung / Supervision:
Johannes Braumann While the introduction of robotic automation has been significantly impacting manufacturing industries, such as the automotive sector, current numbers indicate that architecture and associated industries have yet to see any substantial adoption of the emergent technologies. Throughout this project it is intended to identify possible origins for this slow uptake, examine the current state of the art and ultimately develop interfacing for the interaction between early concept and design stages of architectural workflows with that of robotic automation to achieve greater efficiencies. The research will result in the development of novel software for automation fabrication within an automated digital design tool for architectural components, including a prototypical framework to be easily modular for scalable application with creative agencies of differing sizes.
